Smithville constructs ‘a network that is built for the future’ in the WestGate@Crane Technology Park

ODON, Ind. – Purdue has tapped Smithville Fiber
to increase connectivity performance from its West Lafayette campus to the WestGate@CraneTechnology Park by upgrading existing fiber services at WestGate using Smithville’s advanced core network.

This new network architecture provides multiprotocol label switching to the customer edge supported by a 100-gigabit optical transport network. The Purdue Research Foundation manages WestGate Academy under the name Purdue@WestGate, and Smithville has been a partner providing high-speed internet connectivity to the Purdue Research Park in West Lafayette since 2009.

National Top 100 broadband company increases services in original fiber location

ELLETTSVILLE (Indiana) – Smithville, a nationally ranked Top 100 broadband company, began a $500,000 high-speed fiber expansion to 456 homes in the Ellettsville community in August. Lt. Gov Suzanne Crouch with Smithville CEO Darby McCartyThe project demonstrates Smithville’s commitment to advance fiber infrastructure in the greater Ellettsville area, where the company first launched its innovative fiber service in 2008.  The expansion continues a year of Smithville-funded and -directed fiber projects in Monroe County, and the project is expected to create between 7-10 related jobs in Ellettsville.

WASHINGTON, Indiana – A new $2 million commercial rail cross-dock facility formally opened here November 15 and has already had a positive impact on business attraction, according to Phil O’Haver, vice chairman of the Daviess County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC). The enclosed, all-weather climate-controlled 18,000 sq. ft. rail facility is the first rail expansion in Washington in decades and will be open to all commercial business in the broader region.
