Mobile Drill Intl acquires U.S. Exploration Equipment, expands geotech
INDIANAPOLIS – Mobile Drill International (MDI) has acquired U.S. Exploration Equipment (U.S. Ex) in a move that is expected to further strengthen Mobile Drill’s current market position and expand its growing capacity in the geotech drilling service industry. MDI has experienced solid growth over the past few years, expanding its market share both in the United States and abroad.
“U.S Ex provides MDI with an immediate sales increase to the tooling side of our business and furthers our company objective of providing unmatched value to the geotech drilling industry through our products and services,” said Tim Sabo, president.
“A few decades ago Mobile Drill was the premier portable drill manufacturer and service company in the industry and this acquisition brings together strategic elements that will continue to help move Mobile Drill back toward that position,” he added.
Mobile Drill International, located in southwest Indianapolis, began rebuilding its prior industry leadership position in 2009 when new local owners refocused the company on its core values. MDI’s newly designed drills and expanded parts inventory were embraced by the industry and the company has attracted fresh investment and built new market share.
“Mobile Drill shares the key values of a passion for customer focus and service with U.S. Exploration, and the overall principles, culture, style and personality of the established U.S. Ex brand are very much in line with those of MDI,” Sabo continued. “It’s a natural strategic fit.”
Sabo noted that Bill Knorr, the [ ] of U.S. Exploration will rejoin Mobile Drill as vice president of sales. Knorr previously worked for 12 years at Mobile Drill as its international sales manager. “Bill holds an excellent reputation in the drilling industry and we anticipate him having an immediate positive impact,” said Sabo.
U.S. Exploration, with facilities in Indianapolis and Pennsylvania, manufactures casing shoes, augers, well materials and soil sampling tools for the oil and gas drilling industries.
The acquisition is effective immediately.
